We are a diverse group of women who share a passion for pregnancy and the birthing process. Kari Riley is a DONA Certified Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator.  Helping women and families are among her greatest passions in life.  She has a son who was born in Germany and daughter born here in Corvallis, both natural births.  She has experience in both home and hospital births.  Kari is confident in the body’s natural ability to birth a child and loves to support mothers emotionally, physically and mentally throughout the birthing process.

Courtney Everson is a DONA-trained doula and student midwife. She is a biocultural medical anthropology graduate student, specializing in reproductive and maternal infant health. Courtney believes in using cross-cultural perspectives and applied efforts to ensure equity and best practices in maternity care options. Her doctoral research examines the benefits of doula-supported mothers and families. Courtney honors each woman's birth experience as unique and transformative, working with them to create an empowering, safe and healthy pregnancy, birth, and postpartum process.

She studied massage for 1 year at the Acupressure Institute of Berkeley, and attended midwife assistant training in 2007. Evy has attended hospital, birthing center, and home births. Birthing is her passion. She offers knowledge and experience, and encourages partner participation. With compassion, emotional support, and a positive attitude she enables women to trust in themselves and the birthing process. She believes birth is a miracle to be embraced.

Irma Kapsenberg, CD(DONA) is a Certified Birth Doula and completed her training in 2005.  She is a retired elementary school teacher, originally from The Netherlands where her two oldest children were born at home.  Her third baby was born in a US hospital.  She believes that birth is a beautiful, personal, and natural part of life. Her many years of dog training experience can help you prepare your dog for your baby as well. Irma is also available as a postpartum doula to her birth doula clients.

Jenney received her doula training in 2003 at Birthingway College of Midwifery, where she was also a midwifery student from 2004 through 2005. She studies yoga, has trained as a massage therapist, and is currently studying herbal medicine for women's health under Aviva Romm. Jenney has attended births at home and in the hospital. She has a deep trust in the process of birth, and strongly believes that women's bodies are capable of birthing babies. Jenney knows that just as no two women are alike, so their needs during labor and birth are not exactly the same. She strives to honor those differences in her work with women and their families.

Megan has been passionate about birth for as long as she can remember!  She experienced gentle births with her own children in Australia, supported birthing women for several years in Germany, and has been practicing as a DONA-trained birth doula since 2006 in Benton and Linn Counties.  Megan knows that every birth is a unique experience that can be powerful, positive, and transformative. She encourages parents to use evidence-based information to make informed choices surrounding the birth of their child. Megan is a science writer and naturalist, and speaks German. She lives happily in Corvallis with her husband and daughters.

Ruth DeMaio has trained as a nurse, midwife, and educator in family health and childbirth, and has guided nearly 200 birthing families in hospitals, birth centers, and homes over the past 35 years.  She has a retired husband and three adult, naturally-birthed, children, one of whom recently made Ruth a grandmother for the first time. Ruth is spending time with family and hopes to return to birth work soon.

Stacey Eshelman Lindsay, CD, PCD(DONA), is a DONA-trained and certified birth and postpartum doula. Stacey has been working with pregnant moms and new families since 2002. Stacey is also a Birthing From Within Mentor and custom baby sling maker. Kathryn Weeks is a Registered Nurse who recently completed partpartum doula training at the Bithingway College of Midwifery. She completed CAPPA labor doula training in 2007. Kathryn grew up in the Albany/Corvallis area and is very excited to be back in the Midvalley after several years away. She is passionate about women recognizing the positive power of their own bodies and about helping people lead healthy lives. She believes this starts with helping parents (mothers, fathers, and partners) to be the best they can be, to discover their own strength in bringing forth and caring for new life.
